Well removal tips >.. mmm the million dollar question how best to do it .... it all depends on how long they have been on ... what type of vinyl has been used and the ambiant temperature when you do the removal ... Temprature is definately most important and removal should be done when you have warm conditions or in a warm garage as its much easier or if not use a hair drier to warm the areas as you start removal and keep the vinyl warm whilst pulling them off. *Tip of the week ... for full vehicle graphic removal both vinyl and body wraps use very warm water and it should peel away easy. Apply the heat to the vinyl graphics. After short application of heat (5-10 seconds) start at a designated corner, secure a grip of the graphics with a plastic putty knife or other non-scratch tool to get lift. (I actually sell a special tool for this job which is £5 inc postage) Work the heat, and keep tension on the graphics. Try not to rush the process in any way as it ends up taking longer. As the graphics comes loose, pull it slowly at an acute angle @ (less than 45 degrees). The slow, steady combination of heat and slight angle helps strip the adhesive. The more of the adhesive that comes with the graphics the less work will be needed to go back and remove it. Be patient is the secret.... definately it's slow and steady. The turtle beats the rabbit in graphics removal. Steady, continuous pressure increases the chances that the vinyl graphics will come off in one large piece or in a number of larger pieces. The larger the pieces the less time the job will take. It is best that the removal be done all at once. If residue / old glue remains-it happens to the best of us-you may have to apply a solvent. '' Sticky Stuff remover '' sold at any good hardware store is best, experiment on a site out of sight before attacking the area where the vinyl graphics was. Let the solvent work for 60-120 seconds, wipe the area down with a squeegee, and clean it off with a clean, dry cloth. Stuben bits can be removed with your nail or even a very soft used plastic scourer but test on an out of site are to ensure its not too harsh and ends up scratching. In no time flat and with no risk to even the most inexperienced sign worker, vinyl graphics can be removed easily. The surface is clean as a whistle and ready for new If you want a removal tool ... pay £5 to my paypal account phalfpenny@btinternet.com with your address and I will post one to you . |
